Pharmacists in select pharmacies have undergone additional prescribing and clinical training and are able to consult with community patients for a variety of health concerns. In select circumstances they may be able to prescribe suitable medications. This means you can receive trusted, quick and effective care.
You may be eligible for a consultation with a trained pharmacist if you:
- Have a condition that can be safely managed by a trained pharmacist
- Are of suitable age (varies by State)
- Live in a State that has allowed trained pharmacists to offer consults under certain conditions
- Have difficulty seeing the doctor

Initial or Standard Consultation
Book NowUsually 10-20 minutes in length, this service is suitable for an
initial consultation with a pharmacist who has undergone additional training for support with conditions such as:

Long Consultation

- COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Monitoring

You should see a doctor for a consultation if you experience new, persistent, or worsening symptoms that concern you, such as ongoing pain, unexplained weight changes, changes in bowel or bladder habits, or unusual lumps. Even if you feel well, regular doctor visits can help monitor your health, reduce risks, and catch potential problems early. Our pharmacists support the central role of doctors and will work in conjunction with your doctor whenever appropriate.

Pharmacist consultations make healthcare more convenient and accessible, especially for regional and remote communities. Pharmacists with additional training are authorised to prescribe certain medicines for a limited range of health conditions. However, they are not able to prescribe medications such as opiates, benzodiazepines, or medicines for mental health conditions (e.g. antidepressants or stimulants). Patients are required to pay for the costs associated with these services. This may include the consultation fee and any additional charges.
Prescriptions issued are private (non-PBS) and are not eligible for concession co-pay. Consultation fees may vary depending on the type and complexity of the service provided.
